Aim of the travel: prepare a project


Moufida graduated from the École Européenne Supérieure d'Art de Bretagne. She studied philosophy at the Sorbonne University and theater at the University of Caen before moving to Paris to be trained in film directing. She traveled from Paris to Tunis in 2012; during the workshops, the "wag-dreams" from April 13th to 15th in Sfax and on the 12th and 13th May 2012 in Tunis, she did some location scoutings and pictures of the Medina in order to prepare the planned route for the performance, while working on the ground with the residents.

She keeps on working with the Arab world. 
Her works were shown in many Centers of Contemporary art, in Europe and in the Arab world.In parallel, she teaches the visual arts and collaborates as a curator on several exhibitions projects. Then she integrates the experimental Group of sound and realizes experimental films, selected in several festivals.Moufida has co-writing the medium-length film of fiction “Li-La” and develops her next film “Paradise” between Paris and Tunis.

To: Gaza

Aim of the travel: prepare a project



Karlis Lesins is a Latvian artist, who traveled from Riga to the Gaza Strip for a project (April 9th to May 19th, 2013). One main purpose of the trip was to train young Palestinian artists and media specialists in the field of filmmaking, particularly focusing on documentary filmmaking. The second objective was to report information about the history of Gaza. Both objectives were successfully achieved. The trip led to a partnership with a local organization, the National Organization for Youth Palestine. Currently they are working together on several proposals to develop a much stronger partnership. It provides a cultural exchange that will enable young Palestinians to come to Latvia for the realization of artistic projects.

From: Algiers, Algeria

To: Durban, South Africa

Aim of the travel: take part in a festival/prepare a project


Mohamed  is an Algerian film director who traveled to Durban, South Africa, from Algiers. He stayed in Durban for 6 days, from 17 – 24 July 2013, and participated to the Filmmart (Film Market at the Durban International Film Festival): in 2012 he already took part to the festival, presenting his documentary project “Searching for Janitou”. Therefore, he was looking for funds to produce the film. When he got back from South Africa, he received several invitations, contacts and collaboration proposals for his projects. He fully believed that cultural mobility has been essential in shaping his artistic personality.

To: Bruxelles, Belgium

Aim of the travel: prepare a danse project


Yazan is a Palestinian 22 year old dancer who traveled from Ramallah to Brussels for three months to participate in the project " Badke " : The title derives from a the deliberate mis-spelling of " dabke " , the name of the folk dance Palestinian . The piece was created by three well-known famous artists ( Koen Augustijnen , Rosalba Torres Guerero and Hildegard De Vuyst ) in collaboration with 10 Palestinian dancers from mixed backgrounds : their experience is shaped by the dabke , contemporary dance, hiphop, capoeira and / or circe . Yazan emphasized the strong impact that this project will have on the Palestinian and Arab public opinion : it follows from the folk dance of the region and after it decomposes, so that the audience feel involved and integrated into the performance. He told us his desire to teach what he have learned during this experience to his young students and believes that this work will be extremely beneficial for the festival he organizes in Palestine, Ramallah Dance Festival, also enlarging the circle of partners and contacts .

To: Nablus, Palestinian Occupied Territories

Aim of the travel: prepare a project – run a workshop



In november 2012, Marco Alessio spent a month in Nablus to participate in a residency and to animate a theatre workshop with a group of young people living in Balata Refugee Camp, Nablus. Meetings with Palestinian families have been organized and have enriched the performance on the theme of separation. This project was supported by the Palestinian association YDA (youth development association) and has led to the creation of a strong relationship with members of the association that are expected soon in Italy to continue the educational and creative work.

Aim of the travel: Take part in a conference


Zeynep Akture, academic assistant at the department of architecture of Izmir Institute of Technology, participated in the '3rd International Conference on Heritage and Sustainable Development' in Porto with a paper on 'A historiography of Interventions in the Archaeological Sites from Turkey in the Unesco World Heritage List'. As a coincidence, this conference took place near Guimaraes, declared a World Heritage site due to its well preserved historic centre. She experienced how the city has managed to sustain its cultural importance since medieval times and how it could become exemplary for other World Heritage sites.

Rana is a Syrian-American filmmaker, screenwriter, director and producer. For her current project « Damascenes » she received a travel grant to take part in a workshop organised by the Mediterranean Film Institute in Nissyros, Greece in June/July 2010.

From: Lecce, Italy

To: Ljubljana, Slovenia

Aim of the travel: prepare a project



Alessia Rollo is a visual artist and an independent project manager and Valeria is a freelance journalist and independent curator; Both work for the cultural association DamageGood. They traveled from Lecce, Italy, to Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 15 May to 30 June 2013 in order to develop their project, "FADE": this is the Italian acronym for the Festival of emerging artists. The public art project specifically aims to promote emerging artists, stimulate the circulation and dissemination of contemporary art (workshops, conferences, etc. . ) in the city and suburbs of Lecce, supporting the exchange between local and international artists. This project will culminate in a public event which is going to transform the city of Lecce in an open gallery, to show the works of several emerging artists who have been selected among all the applicants of an international open call. The main intention is to stimulate the local arts production of Lecce, to enhance the socio -cultural context and thus to develop a strong network with international cultural realities.

To: Siglufjordur, Iceland

Aim of the travel: take part in an art residency


Damien Nenadić traveled to Iceland (in the city of Siglufjordur) from Zagreb to take part in an art residency. His project specifically focuses on issues of environmental origin, as the relationship between humans and the environment. During the trip he presented a collection of pictures entitled "traces of water." Therefore, he traveled extensively in the Nordic country, which has allowed him to get in touch with many associations and local artists. As a member of the "international platform for the development of arts in Zagreb," Damien has developed strong networks for cultural dialogue, and he is planning  future artistic exchange programs between the Balkans and Iceland.

Aim of the travel: prepare an experimental artistic project


Richard Grolleau is a Parisian artist in the field of theater. He traveled from Paris to Belgrade from 25 April to 6 May 2013, to prepare a project and meet potential partners in Serbia. He worked for the creation of an experimental artistic project involving people who have been victims of discrimination in Serbia, realized developed in partnership with the International Aid Network (IAN) and CZKD (Centar za Kultumu Dekontaminaciju). During his stay, Richard Stand met 4 different structures (the Association Dusa, Ace Centar association for the assistance to people living with the AIDS virus, the association Novi Svet, the Centre for Cultural Decontamination); thinking about future collaborations, he also met the head of the Treansformator association, Vera Erac. Richard aims to develop this type of artistic projects including partners both in France and in the Balkans.

Aim of the travel: prepare a projet/ run a workshop


Boris received a FRC travel grant to run the developmental workshop « Reality performance workshop and urban hypertext » and to prepare with Katarina Pejovic and Srdjan Kovacevic the material for the multimedia exhibition “Famagusta: Memory Map”. Both of these projects were providing basis for the performance “Memories of Deep Harbour” planned for next year. This performance is inspired by the tragic events of the August 1974 exodus of Greek Famagustans following the Turkish invasion.  They decided to collaborate with Omada One/Off, a theatre company, and with members of the Mythos theatre on the performance “Memories of Deep Harbour”. What is more, various persons connected to associations of Famagustans in exile have approached them for possible collaboration.

Marwa ADEL

From: Cairo

To: Marseille

Aim of the travel: Take part in a residency


Marwa, a freelance artist who holds a master degree in advertising « Visual Identity » from the University of Helwan in Cairo,  used her RCF/Marseille-Provence 2012 travel grant to take part  in an art residency in Marseille where she prepared and shot the meeting of three young photograpers. This stay enabled her to develop contacts and collaboration with other photographers from Marseille and Arles.



Alina TUDOR & Razvan NAEGOE

To: Lyon, France

Aim of the travel: Take part in an art residency


Alina and Razvan were able to participate in an art residency for one month in 2011. This trip has helped them to find new ways of thinking and conceptualizing artistic projects. Their project has been included in the Lyon Ressonance Biennal of Contemporary Art which meant their confirmation and recognition as well.
