In november 2012, Marco Alessio spent a month in Nablus to participate in a residency and to animate a theatre workshop with a group of young people living in Balata Refugee Camp, Nablus. Meetings with Palestinian families have been organized and have enriched the performance on the theme of separation. This project was supported by the Palestinian association YDA (youth development association) and has led to the creation of a strong relationship with members of the association that are expected soon in Italy to continue the educational and creative work.

Zeynep AKTUREFrom: Izmir To: Guimaraes Aim of the travel: Take part in a conference
Zeynep Akture, academic assistant at the department of architecture of Izmir Institute of Technology, participated in the '3rd International Conference on Heritage and Sustainable Development' in Porto with a paper on 'A historiography of Interventions in the Archaeological Sites from Turkey in the Unesco World Heritage List'. As a coincidence, this conference took place near Guimaraes, declared a World Heritage site due to its well preserved historic centre. She experienced how the city has managed to sustain its cultural importance since medieval times and how it could become exemplary for other World Heritage sites.

Rana KAZKAZFrom: Syria To: Greece Aim of the travel: Take part in a workshop
Rana is a Syrian-American filmmaker, screenwriter, director and producer. For her current project « Damascenes » she received a travel grant to take part in a workshop organised by the Mediterranean Film Institute in Nissyros, Greece in June/July 2010.

Boris BAKALFrom: Zagreb, Croatia To: Limassol, Cyprus Aim of the travel: prepare a projet/ run a workshop
Boris received a FRC travel grant to run the developmental workshop « Reality performance workshop and urban hypertext » and to prepare with Katarina Pejovic and Srdjan Kovacevic the material for the multimedia exhibition “Famagusta: Memory Map”. Both of these projects were providing basis for the performance “Memories of Deep Harbour” planned for next year. This performance is inspired by the tragic events of the August 1974 exodus of Greek Famagustans following the Turkish invasion. They decided to collaborate with Omada One/Off, a theatre company, and with members of the Mythos theatre on the performance “Memories of Deep Harbour”. What is more, various persons connected to associations of Famagustans in exile have approached them for possible collaboration.

Marwa ADELFrom: Cairo To: Marseille Aim of the travel: Take part in a residency
Marwa, a freelance artist who holds a master degree in advertising « Visual Identity » from the University of Helwan in Cairo, used her RCF/Marseille-Provence 2012 travel grant to take part in an art residency in Marseille where she prepared and shot the meeting of three young photograpers. This stay enabled her to develop contacts and collaboration with other photographers from Marseille and Arles.

Alina TUDOR & Razvan NAEGOEFrom: Bucharest, Romania To: Lyon, France Aim of the travel: Take part in an art residency
Alina and Razvan were able to participate in an art residency for one month in 2011. This trip has helped them to find new ways of thinking and conceptualizing artistic projects. Their project has been included in the Lyon Ressonance Biennal of Contemporary Art which meant their confirmation and recognition as well.
