Istikshaf : exploring mobility
Date:
October / Octobre 2009
Location :
Le Fonds Roberto Cimetta has launched a new scheme entitled « Istikshaf : exploring mobility », set up in collaboration with the Arab Education Forum (Jordan), The Arab Theatre Training Center, (Lebanon), The Al Balad Theatre, (Jordan), the Studio Emadeddine, (Egypt) and the Dramtiska Institutet, (Sweden) in the framework of a partnership programme funded by the Anna Lindh Foundation. This innovative project is a practical response to the necessity of promoting joint projects, collaboration and action between mobility funders and operators working in the Euro-Mediterranean region. This scheme enables the partners and other operators to meet at regular intervals over a period of two years in order to explore the question of cultural mobility and its implications in political, economic, philosophical and strategic terms. It also acts as an advocacy group so that the opinions of artists, programmers, distributors and cultural workers can be communicated to local political or institutional representatives as well as to cultural events organisers. Finally this scheme also enables mobility funders and operators to access common resources and tools that are easy to use and that will increase the sustainability and efficiency of artistic and cultural projects in the region. In the long run we hope through this programme to increase the circulation of updated and reliable information, to establish long term infrastructures, improve capacity-building and set up multilateral permanent cooperation projects.
